Could you use a change of perspective?

Superwomen have a fairly universal issue (in my opinion)…we don’t give ourselves enough credit.   I’m talking about focusing on our accomplishments instead of the many things on our “to do” lists that are left undone.   Instead of realizing and accepting that the long list of items is unrealistic to begin with, we measure our self-worth by the things we’re not accomplishing.   Let’s face it…some of those things that keep getting moved to the bottom of the list never get done and are obviously not a priority.   That’s right!   You could just cross those items off and no one would even know.   I dare you to do just that!

However, even if we cross off items, as tough as that is to do, we still have some work to do.   We need to change our perspectives about the “to do” list.   I’m not asking you to give up the list, just look at it differently.   Christine Louise Hohlbaum, author of The Power of Slow:   101 Ways to Save Time in Our 24/7 World, suggests keeping a “success chart.”   The idea of the success chart is to focus on our accomplishments.   This process changes our perspective from what we didn’t get done to what we’ve accomplished.   Christine suggests doing this on a weekly basis.

I would like to adapt Christine’s idea because I’m not good at writing things down and I can’t remember what I ate yesterday let alone what I accomplished several days ago.   Since a typical Superwoman behavior is mulling over the day (and tomorrow and the next day) when we lay down in bed at night, I am suggesting that we use that time to do a review of our daily accomplishments.   I challenge you to come up with three accomplishments each day.   Try to expand your accomplishments beyond the items on your “to do” list.   For example, my accomplishments for yesterday…I wrote my blog for next week, I wrote my monthly newsletter and I let go of the frustration I was feeling about a stalled out project.   Amazingly, I felt best about the letting go because I didn’t subject those around me to my nasty mood!

Enough said!   Please let me know if this idea has any appeal for you and how it’s working for you.   Choose well…
