Reinvent your wardrobe for spring

The spring fashion collections have slunk and swished and strutted
down the runways. At Fashion Group International, Columbus 2010 kick off
RE-tooling, RE-tailing the Recession: the Art of Reinvention
with local retail and
marketing professionals, a DVD of the spring collections was shown. From the
sublime to the ridiculous - as couture is wont to be – we are tantalized,
inspired and occasionally overwhelmed by all the choices. Budgets may be tight,
but we all enjoy the delights of something new for spring.
We asked Danielle Revish, fashion show producer of the Columbus
Bridal Show and Cocktails and Catwalk for some suggestions about how to spruce
up for spring without blowing up our budgets.
“The ‘must haves,’" says Danielle, “would be a pair of flats, a
white blouse, shirtdress (add a belt), something in a floral print, chunky
bracelet and platforms or a wedge shoe for the young at heart."
The pieces Danielle suggests are versatile and definitely multi-use. A good
white blouse works as well tucked into a business suit as it does buttoned over
a jewel tone tank top and worn with jeans. The classic shirtdress can get
dressed up with heels and a little jacket, or go casual with flats and a chunky
We saw lots of big leather bags on the runway. Trench coats make a
big comeback and fun animal/tribal prints prowl while delicate florals bloom on
dresses and casual wear.
So – be classic, be clever. Mix it up, dress it up and have a
little fun with spring fashion. The snow has melted and the sun has returned:
time to cut loose, kick up your heels and live your life large.
