Lisa Imondi captivates her listeners with a rich contralto that delivers a soulful-smokey style influenced by blues and gospel. Her voice is powerful, yet controlled with a natural resonance and expansive range.
Lisa cannot remember a time in her life when she was not singing. She takes pride in a unique sound that does not sound like or imitate any other singer. Her musical influences include Etta James, Nina Simone, Mahalia Jackson and Ray Charles.
Listeners agree that Lisa has an innate ability to draw them into the intricacies of her musical story. With her own interpretation, she weaves a fresh thread through the emotion of the lyric and melodic line. “She transported me to her world,” said one fan, others have shared similar sentiments. “Beguiling”, “unique” and “mesmerizing” are also words employed by fans to describe Lisa Imondi’s talent. To a woman who considers herself a musical storyteller, this is perhaps the highest compliment.
For the past twenty years, Lisa has been a prolific songwriter – taking inspiration from life: personal experiences, as well as those of people around her. She combines gripping melodies with enduring messages to create songs that simply stand on their own.
With her debut CD currently in production and scheduled for Spring 2011 release, Lisa plans to present several original songs (music and lyrics) along with a collection of her favorite covers. She wants to introduce ‘Lisa Imondi’ to the wider world, but in a manner that enables audiences from afar to enjoy an intimate performance not unlike a live experience. In a day when digital perfection is possible in the engineering booth, Lisa plans to present a refreshingly honest sound that makes the listener feel like she is right there, singing only to them.
One early songwriting success is “Hearts of Gold” written by Lisa Imondi to honor both those whose lives have been touched by cancer and the memory of those who lost their fight. The song’s lyrics follow an emotional journey and culminate in a final realization that people appear from unlikely places willing to help those in need.
In recent years, Lisa has been invited to perform “Hearts of Gold” for numerous “Race for the Cure” and “Relay for Life” events from Columbus, OH to Charlotte, NC.
After many successful years in the corporate world, Lisa has returned to her musical roots to pursue her life passions for performing and song writing. Born on the East Coast, Lisa grew up in central Ohio and currently lives in Columbus, Ohio with her husband Dave and dog, Madison.
